Erica Ash, Actress from ‘Mad TV’ and ‘Survivor’s Remorse,’ Dies at 46

 The actress also appeared in *The Big Gay Sketch Show*, *Scary Movie V*, and *Real Husbands of Hollywood*.


ERICA ASH, the actress celebrated for her sharp wit and comedic talent on *Mad TV* and the Starz dramedy *Survivor’s Remorse*, has passed away at the age of 46.

Ash died on Sunday after a battle with cancer, her publicist confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Erica was an extraordinary woman and a gifted entertainer who touched countless lives with her humor, sharp wit, and genuine zest for life,” her family said in a statement. “Her memory will forever live in our hearts.”

Ash first gained recognition in the mid-2000s with her work on *The Big Gay Sketch Show*, produced by Rosie O’Donnell and directed by Amanda Bearse. She then made a significant impact on *Mad TV*, where she starred for two seasons until its final run on Fox in 2009. Her career continued with roles in *Scary Movie V* and BET’s *Real Husbands of Hollywood*, where she played Bridgette Hart alongside Kevin Hart. The show aired for five seasons from 2013 to 2016. Ash also appeared on BET’s *In Contempt* as passionate public defender Gwen Sullivan, and in Netflix’s *We Have a Ghost*.

BET announced her death on Instagram, praising her for her wit and humor. “Known for being equally witty and funny, Erica starred in BET favorites like *In Contempt* and *Real Husbands of Hollywood*,” the statement read. “We extend our deepest condolences and love to her parents, siblings, friends, and family. Fly high, Queen.”

From 2014 to 2017, Ash portrayed Mary Charles “M-Chuck” Calloway on *Survivor’s Remorse*, alongside Mike Epps, Jessie T. Usher, Tichina Arnold, and RonReaco Lee. Epps honored Ash on social media, saying, “Gone too soon. She was such a great person to work with—full of life, funny, and talented. You left a great mark on earth.” 

Comedian Loni Love also paid tribute, writing on Instagram, “Erica was talented and hilarious, whether on *Survivor’s Remorse* or *Mad TV*. She always gave her all. My sincere condolences to her family and fans.”
