USA's Suni Lee wins Olympic bronze in a fiercely contested uneven bars final.

PARIS — Suni Lee is three-for-three at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

On Sunday, Lee won her second consecutive Olympic bronze medal on the uneven bars, adding to the gold she won with the U.S. women in the team final and her bronze in the all-around final. She has a chance to add another medal on Monday when she competes in the balance beam final.

Seventeen-year-old Kaylia Nemour won gold, giving Africa its first medal in women's gymnastics, while Qiu Qiyuan of China took the silver.

Lee was the last to compete, with only a slight step on her dismount marring an otherwise strong routine. She appeared pleased with her performance, and when her score of 14.8 was announced, her jaw dropped. This score placed her just ahead of Nina Derwael, the Tokyo Olympic champion.

Just making the podium in this uneven bars final was an achievement, as it featured the reigning Olympic, world, and European champions, all bringing their best. Qiu, the reigning world champion, performed a stunning routine, with pirouettes on the high bar that would make ballerinas jealous, and held her handstands perfectly still.

Beaming as she finished, Qiu cried when her score of 15.5 was announced.

Nemour, waiting for her turn, remained unfazed by Qiu's impressive score. Her routine, packed with difficulty — one of the few in the women's competition with a difficulty score above 7 — looked effortless. She moved from bar to bar like a hummingbird and landed flawlessly.
