Former Giants pitcher Reyes Moronta has passed away at the age of 31.

“His warm spirit will be missed by all, and our thoughts are with his friends and family during this difficult time,” the Giants said in a tribute on X.

Former San Francisco Giants pitcher Reyes Moronta has died in a motorcycle accident in the Dominican Republic. The 31-year-old was involved in a crash in the Villa Gonzalez community on Sunday night, according to The Associated Press.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Reyes Moronta, who pitched for the Giants, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and Angels over six seasons,” MLB said in a post on X.

The Mexican Baseball League expressed its condolences, stating it joins “in the grief that overwhelms his family, friends, and former colleagues.”

Moronta, born in the Dominican Republic, signed with the San Francisco Giants as an international free agent at 17 in September 2010. He appeared in 136 games for the Giants between 2017 and 2021, the team noted in a post on X.
