Paris 2024 Olympics: How France is poised to break all its medal table records

Les Bleus have made a historic start at the Paris 2024 Olympics, amassing 26 medals, including 8 golds, within just five days of competition. France currently holds second place in the medal standings.

Since Saturday, French sports fans have experienced the thrill of hosting the Summer Olympics on home soil and the excitement of being among the top-performing nations. Medals have been awarded in rapid succession: Cassandre Beaugrand secured gold in the morning, BMX rider Anthony Jeanjean claimed bronze in the afternoon, and Léon Marchand delivered a spectacular performance in the evening.

With 26 medals, including 8 golds, France is enjoying its best Olympic showing to date. This surpasses the previous benchmark set at the Atlanta Games, where France had six golds out of 16 medals by this point. The 2024 French Olympic team is off to an exceptional start, currently positioned second in the medal standings behind China, and briefly leading after Marchand's second victory of the evening.
