Disney unveils its CGI version of Stitch in the upcoming live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch”.

The big Walt Disney Pictures panel at  the D23  fan event on  Friday did not reveal much about ‘Lilo & Stitch’ , it did offer a 1st look at  the CGI Stitch  from the upcoming  film, directed  by Dean Fleischer, known for ‘Marcel the Shell With Shoes On’.

During the event,  which also featured new previews of live-action ‘Snow  White’, ‘Tron: Ares’ & the ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel ‘Freakier Friday’,  the festivities were briefly interrupted by a CGI Lilo leaping onto the screen at  the Anaheim,  California  convention center. This marked the 1st glimpse of h ow the 2002  animated classic's  alien furball would be rendered in the primarily live action remake  which was later shared with the public on social media. The  film is scheduled for release in  theaters next summer   with Chris Sanders returning  to voice Stitch in  CGI form ,  just  as he did in the original  movie.

Originally written & directed by Sanders & Dean DeBlois , the animated  ‘Lilo & Stitch’ tells the story of  Lilo  Pelekai,  a young Hawaiian girl raised  by her older sister Nani  after the death of their  parents. Lilo discovers  a mysterious alien & adopts him as her new dog, naming him Stitch.

In the upcoming live action adaptation , Maia Kealoha will  portray Lilo  with Sydney Elizabeth Agudong as Nani & Kaipo Dudoit as Nani's love interest  David Kawena. Several actors from the original film will also return in new roles: Tia Carrere (the original voice of Nani) will play a new character named Mrs. Kekoa, and Amy Hill (the original Mrs. Hasagawa) will portray a character named Tūtū.
