Dramatic footage has surfaced
showing the moment a man was arrested on intuition of a double stabbing in
Leicester Square this morning.
An 11-year-old girl and a
34-year-old woman were both stabbed and rushed to the hospital following the dreadful
incident outside a teashop in the busy
tourist area. The doubt, reportedly seen in the area before the attack, was
apprehended by a security guard before police arrived.
The London Metropolitan Police
established the arrest of a 32-year-old man at the scene. Eyewitness videos
show a man in dark clothing being handcuffed by officers on the bustling
street. One witness, Abu Tauhid, a father of two, remembered seeing the alleged attacker "walking
around the square" earlier in the morning. He said, "I saw him pacing
around the square from about 11 this morning. He was alone, eating something
like a wrap. I saw the police arrest him, and then they took him away."
Tauhid added that he also witnessed a security guard, later identified as
Abdullah, "wrestle the suspect to the ground."
A local shop manager reported
seeing the alleged attacker about 90 minutes before the stabbing, describing
him as "walking around Leicester Square, talking to himself." The
manager added, "He looked homeless to me. We see these people every day,
but I hadn't seen him before." He reported the man as white, skinny, and in his mid-30s.
The Metropolitan Police
confirmed that they answered to the scene within four minutes and are not
seeking any other guess in connection
with the attack. They added that the 11-year-old girl sustained
momentous injuries and will
require further treatment, though her condition is not life-threatening.
Investigator Chief
Superintendent Christina Jessah, overseeing Westminster policing, stated that
the victims' family members are receiving bear. She praised the bravery of
members of the public, including local business staff, who interceded during
the incident, saying, "They put themselves at risk and showed the best of
London in doing so." Jessah confirmed that investigators are working urgently to piece together the
events and that there is no current indication that the attack was
terror-related. She urged anyone with information to come forward to assist
with the inquiry.
