One person has been established
dead & six others remain missing after a luxury yacht sank off the coast of
Sicily, jurisdiction to Italian jurisdiction. The incident happened around 5
a.m. on Monday when a tornado struck the vessel, which was moored about half a
mile from the Porticello harbor on the classical island.
Fifteen people have been extricated,
with one child airlifted to a children's hospital in Palermo. The yacht's
captain is among the survivors, according to the Coast Guard. The 56-meter
yacht, named "Bayesian," sailed under a British flag and had a mostly
British crew and travellers, along with two Anglo-French nationals, one New
Zealander, one Irish, and one Sri Lankan on board.

brigade uncovered the yacht’s hull at a depth of 49 meters (160 feet), while
helicopters were positioned to assist in the ongoing search effort.
