USA's Sunny Choi and Logan Edra eliminated in round-robin stage of Olympic breaking.

PARIS — Team USA missed the podium in breaking after both of its B-Girls, Sunny and Logistx, were unable to advance past the round-robin stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

B-Girl Logistx, whose real name is Logan Edra, faced a tough draw, going up against two top contenders: B-Girl Nicka from Lithuania and B-Girl Syssy from France. Logistx lost her battle to Nicka, 2-0, and needed a sweep against Syssy in the third round—a difficult task given Syssy's skill and the support of the hometown crowd. They split the two rounds, leaving Logistx just shy of reaching the top eight.

B-Girl Sunny brought artistry and character to the stage but struggled to match the power moves of her competitors. She was eliminated from quarterfinal contention before her third battle, which she won by defeating Portugal's Vanessa, 2-0.

**When is the breakdancing competition in the Olympics?**

The B-Girls competed on Friday, August 9, and the B-Boys will compete on Saturday, August 10. The breaking competitions at the 2024 Paris Games will be televised live on E!, with the women's competition starting around 10 a.m. ET on Friday and concluding with the finals at 2 p.m. ET. The men's competition will follow the same schedule on Saturday.

**Where did breakdancing originate? Who invented it?**

Breakdancing originated in the Bronx in the 1980s when DJ Kool Herc extended the breaks in the beat—hence the term "breaking"—allowing dancers to drop to the floor and showcase their moves. These extended breaks, known as the "go off," have influenced generations of dancers worldwide.
