With booming bass and Snoop Dogg in the mix, breaking electrifies Paris 2024.

The inaugural Olympic breaking competition kicked off at La Concorde on Friday, August 9, as Paris 2024 set the stage for 17 B-Girls vying for a spot on the podium.

Any doubts about how the crowd and global audience would react to this new Olympic sport were quickly put to rest by the electrifying performances of the B-Girls and B-Boys.

The arena was packed with fans, and the energy was palpable as rapper Snoop Dogg elevated the atmosphere with a dynamic performance during the opening brigadier ceremony.

Four years after breaking was officially added to the Paris program, the competition began with India of the Netherlands facing Talash of the Refugee Olympic Team in a pre-qualifier at the iconic landmark. India won the match 3-0, completing the lineup for the women's field of 16.

The round-robin battles kicked off with reigning world champion Nicka and France's own Syssy, as the B-Boys, whose competition is set for Saturday, cheered on their peers from the sidelines. The venue pulsed like a nightclub, with Snoop Dogg and USA men’s basketball player Bam Adebayo clearly enjoying the show.

With that, breaking made a dazzling debut in the City of Light.
