Paris 2024 Olympics – Sailing Day 6: Medal Events for Skiffs and Windsurfers, 470 Class Joins ILCA Racing

Friday has become a maxi medal day for sailing after the abandonment of the 49er and 49erFX medal races on Thursday. These medal races will be rerun alongside the medal series for the men’s and women’s iQFOil windsurfers.

If successful, this will result in the first sailing medals of the Paris Games.

The starts are scheduled for the women’s 49erFX at 11:13 hrs and the men’s 49er at 12:13 hrs, with better breeze forecasted.

The mixed 470 dinghy will also start their racing on Friday, joining the ILCA 6 and 7 single-handed dinghies, which managed their first races on Thursday.

The windsurfer medal series will start with the quarter-finals, women at 14:00 hrs and men at a time to be announced.

**49er Results:**

- **Gold:** Diego Botin and Florian Trittel, Spain

- **Silver:** Isaac McHardie and William McKenzie

- **Bronze:** Ian Barrows and Hans Henken

After the Dutch team mistakenly took the wrong 49erFX finish line, Odile van Aanholt and Annette Duetz corrected to win the first sailing gold of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

**49erFX Results:**

- **Gold:** Odile van Aanholt and Annette Duetz, Netherlands

- **Silver:** Vilma Bobeck and Rebecca Netzler, Sweden

- **Bronze:** Sarah Steyaert and Charline Picon, France
