Trump Complains the Obamas Hit Below the Belt Over Crowd Size Jab

Donald Trump made his first public appearance since the assassination attempt on Wednesday last month. However, instead of focusing on his personal safety as he stepped onto the stage behind bulletproof glass, Trump appeared more concerned about his bruised ego.

The former president seemed particularly aggrieved by remarks made by Michelle and Barack Obama during their speeches at the Democratic National Convention, where they sharply criticized Trump as a divisive, misogynistic, and racist figure. Adding to the sting was a moment many interpreted as a jab at Trump’s preoccupation with crowd sizes, punctuated by what some saw as a suggestive gesture by Obama.

Addressing a crowd in Asheboro, North Carolina, Trump vented his frustration, saying, “Did you see Barack Hussein Obama last night? Taking little shots at your president. He was taking shots at your president, and so was Michelle," as he began his speech.

Toward the end of his remarks, Trump’s frustration with Obama resurfaced. "He was very nasty last night," Trump commented. “I try to be nice to people, you know, but it’s a little threatening when they get individual.” He then asked the troop whether he should respond in kind, encouragement a thrilled response from his factions.

Originally, the rally was planned to focus on national sanctuary and draw a difference with Vice President Kamala Harris and the DNC. However, Trump appeared more absorbed in airing personal complaints, much to the disappointment of some of his allies, who had advised him to stay on message.

Instead of heeding their advice, Trump openly mocked them. "They always say, 'Sir, please stick to the principle, don't get personal,' yet they're getting personal all night, these people. Do I still have to stick to the principle?"  he asked, eliciting cheers from the crowd. He then mimicked his campaign officials saying, “Sir, you must stick to policy, you're going to win it on the border, you're going to win it with inflation… Sir, you're going to win it all. "

Throughout the rally, Trump reverted to familiar tactics, referring to Hillary Clinton as “Crooked Hillary,” Nancy Pelosi as “nuts” and “crazy,” and Joe Biden as “angry” and “seething.”

Trump also repeated his claim that Kamala Harris harbors secret communist sympathies, dubbing her “Comrade Kamala.”

At one point, Trump paused his rally to call for medical assistance for a supporter in distress, acknowledging the sweltering heat and the long wait many had endured to attend.

Before Trump’s appearance, his vice-presidential pick, JD Vance, fired up the crowd by declaring, “we are going to take this country back.” He criticized the Democrats’ approach to appealing to rural voters, mocking their use of camouflage hats.

Meanwhile, the Harris campaign highlighted several controversial moments from Trump’s speech on X, including a notable gaffe where Trump referenced a non-existent plane while discussing the “Afghanistan disaster.”

Trump mistakenly said, "We have F-16s, we have F-35s, F-32s, and we were knocking them out." "It was easy."
